UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN QUEENSLAND, SCIENCES PRECINCT

This project was under the design direction of Rebecca Caldwell while previously working at  dwpsuters. May Tree Studios has no ongoing involvement with this project.  More work by dwpsuters can be seen here www.dwpsuters.com.

The USQ Sciences Project included masterplanning changes across three major buildings on the Toowoomba campus in order to provide high quality undergraduate and postgraduate laboratory and teaching space along with a centralised administration hub and research facilities.  The project dealt with a number of issues for the Faculty strategically addressing way-finding, transparency and productivity.

The large postgraduate laboratories were located at the ground level of a 5 level building with enormous service integration and co- ordination required by the design team.  Delivered in three stages, the laboratories took 40 year old, run-down  buildings and gave them a vitality and vibrancy reflective of the University’s goals and educational ideals.
